There are several trim levels to the 2021 Ford F-150, as listed above. The 2021 Ford F-150 XLT is a step up from the base XL model and offers many of the basic features hard workers need. However, if you are looking for a little more luxury, you might be more interested in the 2021 Ford F-150 King Ranch or Lariat model. Finally, the best-of-the-best F-150 with the most standard features will have to be between the Platinum and Limited trims. Later into the model year, after the release of the 2021 Ford F-150, we expect the debut of a high-performance 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor model. F-150 owners have the option between three body cab styles: Regular Cab (which seats three occupants), SuperCab (seats six), and SuperCrew (seats six). There are also three truck bed sizes: 5.5', 6.5', and 8'.

2021 Ford F-150 Engine Options

The 2021 Ford F-150 is available with a 3.3-liter V6, a twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6, a 5.0-liter V8, a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, a 3.0-liter diesel V6, and a new 3.5L Hybrid. Along with the standard F-150 engines that carried over from the previous model year, Ford is introducing the new, first-ever 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid powertrain. All of these engines are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission.

The new 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost features a towing capacity of up to 12,000 pounds, while the other F-150 towing ratings are up to 13,200 pounds with the proper equipment. The maximum tow rating is on the 2021 Ford F-150 XL SuperCrew 4x2 with Max Trailer Tow Package. There are no confirmed updates to the payload capacity of the new F-150 yet, but we expect it to be around 3,270 pounds. However, Ford has confirmed that the 2021 Ford F-150 XL Regular Cab 4x2 equipped with the 8' box, 5.0L V8, and Heavy-Duty Payload Package will have the highest payload rating in the lineup.

2021 Ford F-150 Performance Specs

So far, here's what we know about the performance of the 2021 Ford F-150 hybrid. We know that the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid powertrain will have the maximum horsepower and torque rating of all the F-150 engines. Unfortunately, exact specifications haven't been released. In 2020, the max horsepower and torque rating came from the H.O. 3.5L EcoBoost V6 rated at 450-hp and 510 lb-ft. of torque. The 3.5L PowerBoost could very well exceed that. Even with such a power boost (pun intended), the F-150 hybrid will still be able to travel up to 700 miles on a tank of gas with the 30.6 gallon-tank, possibly the most efficient F-150 offered in 2021. Additionally, all other 2021 F-150 engines should see similar mpg numbers as the 2020 F-150. The base engine with rear-wheel-drive (4x2) might be rated around 19/25 mpg. With the smaller 2.7L EcoBoost engine, expect 20/26 mpg.

The First-Ever 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid

This Ford F-150 hybrid truck includes a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 combined with a 35-kW electric motor. A 1.5-kWh lithium-ion battery powers the PowerBoost's electric motor. You can choose this engine in conjunction with rear- or four-wheel-drive (4x2, 4x4).
