  • SE │ $39,440
  • SEL │ $40,840

  • Titanium | $44,595
  • ST │ $47,980

Exterior & Colors

The 2023 Ford Edge sits in this year's lineup between the Escape and Explorer. It is rated at 189″ L x 76″ W x 68″ H with your option of 18" or 20" wheels and several different colors. The 2023 Nissan Murano measures 193″ L x 75″ W x 68″ H with the possibility of 18" and 20" wheels and fun colors.

Interior Design & Seating

It doesn't matter whether you choose the 2023 Ford Escape or Nissan Murano for seating capacity. Both SUVs contain two rows and comfortable seating for five people.

Infotainment & Features

The 2023 Ford Edge comes standard with a massive 12" touch screen, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a six-speaker audio system. Sadly, the 2023 Nissan Murano only includes a standard 8" touch screen, along with a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, four USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Cargo Capacity

There is more cargo room in the 2023 Ford Edge than in the Murano, making it easier to carry all your gear. In the Ford SUV, you get 39.2 cubic feet in the rear and 73.4 cubic feet when the back seat is folded down. However, the Murano only offers 32.1 and 67 cubic feet, respectively.

Towing Capacity

There's also quite a difference in towing capacity between the two SUVs. With the 2023 Ford Edge, you can tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds, but the Murano is only rated for a maximum of 1,500 pounds. That extra 2,000 pounds can make a big difference when you are trying to tow your boat to the lake.

Drivetrain & Suspension

Another big difference between the two is the drivetrain. While the 2023 Ford Edge comes standard with all-wheel drive, you must pay extra for it with the new Murano. Instead, the base Murano includes front-wheel drive.

Engine

There are two engine options with the 2023 Ford Edge. Choose the 250-hp turbo-four with the eight-speed automatic or the 335-hp twin-turbo V6 with a seven-speed automatic. With the 2023 Nissan Murano, you only get one engine option: the 260-hp 3.5-liter V6 and a CVT.

Performance & MPG

The base Edge model earns 21/28 mpg. Even with the more powerful ST, you'll only see a slight drop in the fuel economy rating. The 2023 Nissan Murano ranks similarly to the FWD or AWD configurations. These SUVs are rated at 20/28 mpg.

Safety Features

The 2023 Ford Edge comes with standard rear cross-traffic alert, the MyKey system, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, forward automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, a rearview camera, and forward collision warning. The 2023 Nissan Murano includes a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, driver attention monitoring, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and lane departure warning.

Ratings & Reviews

The 2023 Ford Edge has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick spot. Car and Driver says, "Its ride is comfortable and compliant, and the standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine provides adequate performance." Additionally, the 2023 Nissan Murano is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ winner. Still, Car and Driver says, "The Murano is handsome, comfortable, and nicely equipped, but its age is all too evident in shortcomings that range from its shortage of cargo space to its droning engine."
