2017 Ford Super Duty Truck in Colorado Springs

2017 Ford Super Duty in Colorado Springs at Phil Long

The Ford F-Series is the most sold line of trucks in the entire world, so it is only right that they continue to raise the bar on what it means to be "Super Duty." Speaking of Super Duty, the 2017 Super Duty truck cruises alongside the Ford F-150 and Ford Raptor this year as being a better than ever truck. Critics are attributing their positive reviews toward the new, lighter aluminum construction and the hefty tow ratings.

The latest Super Duty F-250 model has a 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V-8 engine with 925-lb-ft of torque. The towing capacity for this engine selection grants drivers a maximum of 32,500 pounds, more than double the standard 6.2-liter V-8 engine's 15,000 pounds of towing capacity. Trim levels include the regular, SuperCab, and Crew Cab with the option of 6.75-ft and 8.0-ft beds. Although this truck is undeniably a powerhouse, you can still enjoy the ride in a tranquil interior. Other trim levels for the Ford Super Duty include the Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.

There are some benefits to having the PowerStroke diesel engine. To prevent overexerting the traction-control system, Ford has configured the Super Duty to electronically limit the torque in first, second, and third gears. The Super Duty also incorporates huge vented disc brakes which will allow the more control when braking abruptly especially when towing heavy payloads.

Safety when it comes to towing was also an important component to be improved especially with the lighter truck and better towing capabilities. In light of the recent additions, Ford added full LED lighting to the Super Duty as well as lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control which also allows for more controlled braking to relieve stress even if the truck is maxed out on loads. Blind-spot monitoring is also an important added feature and grants the driver more visibility when towing trailers up to 33-ft long. Ford also took into account the hitch handling capability by eliminating the need for a weight distributing attachment. They instead redesigned the hitch handling allowing the Super Duty to handle up to 21,000 easily.

LED lights have also been added to the mirrors, truck bed, and tailgate in addition to the 6 extra cameras placed along the exterior of the truck. The cameras provide even more scope of what's happening behind you. Through the sight of the 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, the cameras allow the driver to see their tow-loads at nearly every angle.

Ford has not only updated the exterior, they have also updated the interior, providing a lot of storage space, larger buttons and knobs for controls, and simple ergonomics. There is an upgraded color 8.0-inch cluster for improve usability, the new SYNC 3 interface, and a sneaky rear facing camera (making that seven cameras total to improve backing-up visibility).

We know our Super Duty fans are generally those who work in the toughest environments. Because of this, Ford has also offered a rubber flooring premium upgrade for all trim levels.
